Fire dampers are part of fire zones.

They ensure the fire resistance of fire zones, meaning they prevent the spread of fire, heat, and smoke from one fire zone to another within a predetermined period. Additionally, fire-resistant structures that pass through technical systems must not increase the spread of smoke and fire.

The owner of the property is obliged to ensure the fire safety of the property, and one of the essential fire safety requirements includes measures that ensure, as far as possible, the prevention of a fire starting:

  1. Preventing the ignition and spread of fire in the building.
  2. Preventing the formation and spread of smoke in the building.

Therefore, the property owner must arrange for the regular inspection of fire dampers.

According to the law, the property owner must ensure that the fire and evacuation exits, as well as the necessary fire-safety measures, are in proper working order and arrange the regular maintenance of fire safety systems.

The openings and closures of fire or evacuation doors must be checked at least once a year by the manufacturer or supplier of the device or by a pre-arranged technician.
